What is Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release?
Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release relieves compression of the median nerve in the wrist. In carpal tunnel syndrome, the nerve is compressed as it passes through the narrow carpal tunnel, causing pain, numbness, tingling, and hand weakness — often worst at night or with repetitive activity. When symptoms persist despite splints, medication, and physiotherapy, surgical release is recommended. The endoscopic approach uses a small camera and specialised instruments inserted through one or two small incisions to precisely divide the transverse carpal ligament — decompressing the nerve with minimal tissue disruption.
How the Procedure Works
Pre-operative Nerve Conduction Assessment

Small Incision(s) —
One or two small incisions are made near the wrist to allow introduction of the endoscope and surgical instruments into the carpal tunnel.

Ligament Release
Using a specialised blade introduced through the endoscope, the transverse carpal ligament is precisely divided under direct visualisation, decompressing the median nerve.
Nerve Inspection
The surgeon confirms the median nerve is fully decompressed and free of any residual compression along its course through the carpal tunnel.
Wound Closure & Dressing
— Instruments are removed; incisions are closed with sutures or adhesive strips and covered with a sterile dressing; hand use begins early.
